KEBER produces amazingly fruity, flowery wines that jump out of the glass and hit you bang on the nose! He makes good Riesling, but also does wonderful things with lots of other varieties - mostly new aromatic crossings like Morio-Muskat, Faber, Huxelrebe and (one of my all-time favourites, when we can get it) Würzer. Würzer?? A crossing of Gewürztraminer and Müller-Thurgau - both very spicy and flowery varieties in their own right; put it in the hands of a winemaker like Keber, whose wines are always as fruity and flowery as the labels on his bottles, and..... well, you'll just have to taste it and see what I mean. About six years ago he started producing red wines from the increasingly popular Dornfelder grape: luscious, fruity, slightly sweet, very moreish - and there's the problem: there isn't very much of it, and each year's supply runs out long before the next vintage is available. Keber's wines are best when young and fresh, and are superb for just drinking on their own. His alcohol levels are usually quite low, at around 8.0-8.5%.
